Klaipėdos NK centras

General experience in inspection

Currently Klaipėdos NK Centras, member of Gridin's Group, (later referred to as NKC) holds valid certificates issued by Classification Societies ABS, LR, DNV, GL, BV, RINA, RMRS, PRS and the Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau (LA). LA is a full member of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA).

NKC has implemented LST-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Quality Management System for testing laboratories identical to ISO 9001:2000 which is a prerequisite condition in order to be approved by Classification Societies and EU accreditation bodies.

Our partner within Gridin's Group is the company Gridins Enterprise LT, that renders Rope Access services. Gridins Enterprise LT holds a ISO 9001:2000 certificate issued by Lloyd's Register and is a full member of IRATA (International Rope Access Trade Association).

We use the following NDT methods and techniques:

• PT - Dye penetrant testing;
• MPT - Magnetic partical inspection;
• VT - Visual testing;
• UT - Ultrasonic testing.

• Manual method:

• UT - Ultrasonic testing;
• UTM – Ultrasonic thickness measurements.

• Automatic method (P-scan system):

• P- scan for welding inspection;
• T-scan (C-scan) for corrosion mapping;
• TOFD – Time of Flight Diffraction, optimal for planar defects (such as cracks) detection and sizing.

The Inspection Team for each project is formed according to the task, specified by the customer.

Daily work is coordinated from the home office in Klaipeda.

CVs of key project managers can be provided upon request.

Specific inspection experience and quality assurance

We have experience working in facilities with complicated piping systems.

During recent marine terminal jetty inspection in Ruwaji/Takreer (UAE) the following work was carried out:

• Welding inspection using P-scan system;
•  T-scan of the piping system;
• UTM of the piping and steel structures;
• VT of the piping and steel structures;
• Inspection report (recording of the inspection results, detected defects and flaws, sketches and drawings of structures, photo and video records of defective and hard-to-access locations).

Annually we inspect over 60 facilities of different types.

All of our documents and forms provide our contact information and website link. Any feedback on the quality of our work is welcome. The director of NKC will consider any such comment or proposal. From 2008 to 2012 we issued over 250 different reports and received no requests for major corrections to be made.

Human Resources

Our company employs qualified NDT operators (EN473), many of whom are also IRATA certified specialists. The project manager is a NDT level 3 supervisor. There are also process/design engineers for shipbuilding and ship repair industries on our staff.

Advisory and consulting services for marine and industry issues are provided by a specialist who has more than 15 years of experience as a Lloyd's Register surveyor.

Training

Training programs are a part of our Quality Management System.

We participate in specific NDT technique trainings at certified centers (i.e. FORCE Institute, Denmark).

All of our EN 473 qualification renewal is only maintained by accredited organizations.

Project Management

We do not have branch offices; all jobs are under the supervision of our headquarters in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

Travel arrangements

All of our specialists hold Lithuanian passports. Lithuania is a member of the Schengen agreement and therefore our employees do not require visas to most countries. Should it be necessary to obtain visas, this issue will be settled quickly and efficiently. Many of our specialists hold seaman's books, which is also an asset in travelling world-wide.

Means of access

The company employs IRATA certified staff that can provide inspection in places difficult to access.

We assure:

• Zero rate of reports returned;
• Availability and validity of major approval certificates issued by IACS members, LA certificate;
• Delivery of inspection reports within 15 days after completion of the inspection, unless otherwise provided by the contract;
• Analyses of every case of nonconformity and relevant corrective actions;
• Consideration and implementation of any reasonable commitments, agreed upon with the customer for a certain project.
